Every June for the past nine years woolly critters and the people who love them gather at the Windsor Fairgrounds for two days of fleece-filled fun.
This was my first year attending, and I was not disappointed. There were booths of roving, spun yarn, and fiber tools. There were sheep dog demonstrations, marching llamas, and barns full of alpacas, fiber bunnies, goats, and, of course, sheep. There were classes and talks about raising bunnies, felting, and knitting. Add to this bounty of fiber fun yummy, yummy falafel and “spiral” fries – and what more could a girl want?
For me, the highlight of the weekend was spending time with six of my favorite people.
We don’t get to see much of each other as a group over the summer, so I really appreciate times like these. I had no idea when I moved up here that I would be so lucky as to meet such a group of women – all spinners with interesting backgrounds and stellar personalities.
It was a wonderful weekend. Can’t wait until next year!
