The topics covered fall into the following categories: Shelter, Food, Clothing, Water/Energy, Transportation and Arts/Entertainment. Federal Stimulus Money for Home Improvements

Go green to get some green.

There is federal stimulus money in the form of tax credits available for home owners who make energy efficient improvements to their principal residences. Qualifying improvements must be installed and ready to use from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. Home owners who install geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, solar panels, and small wind energy systems at a second home also receive tax credits.

Tax credits are available at 30% of the cost, up to $1,500, in 2009 and 2010.  For more information, consult the Energy Star website.  Also, the Philadelphia Inquirer had a pretty good article about the particulars in laymen’s terms.
